Special Edition of Delirium by Lauren Oliver!

Delirium by Lauren Oliver (Special Edition)

Released on August 2, 2011
Published  by: Harper Collins Publishers
Contains Q&A and excerpt from the sequel: Pandemonium

Ninety-five days, and then I’ll be safe.
I wonder whether the procedure will hurt.
I want to get it over with.
It’s hard to be patient.
It’s hard not to be afraid while I’m still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn’t touched me yet.
Still, I worry.
They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness.
The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don’t.
Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it “raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking.” Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.

So, I know that all of you must have known about the special edition of Lauren Oliver's novel, Delirium. Personally, I think that they did a great job on the new cover and I like it better than the original though the old one is still good. In this edition, it features a Q&A from the author and an excerpt from the sequel!

Now for the main event...... Do you want to win this???

Yes?? then okay!
Just head to Lauren's blog (I'll post the link after the text) then enter!

Don't forget to check out it's sequel Pandemonium releasing next year on March 6th, 2012!

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (Book 2)

Now that's how you make a cover! Here's the summary of it:

Lauren Oliver captivated readers with Delirium, the first book in a thrilling dystopian trilogy in which Lena Haloway dared to fall in love with Alex and escape the cure, the government-mandated procedure that renders a person immune to the disease of love. Lena and Alex staked their lives on leaving their oppressive society, but only Lena broke free.

Pandemonium continues Lena’s gripping story. After escaping from Portland, Maine, Lena makes it to the Wilds and becomes part of an Invalid community, where she transforms herself into a warrior for the resistance. A future without Alex is unimaginable, but Lena pushes forward and fights, both for him and for a world in which love is no longer considered a disease. Swept up in a volatile mix of revolutionaries and counterinsurgents, Lena struggles to survive—and wonders if she may be falling in love again.

Full of danger, forbidden romance, and exquisite writing, Lauren Oliver’s sequel to Delirium races forward at a breathtaking pace and is sure to appeal to fans who crave the high-stakes action of The Hunger Games and the bittersweet love story of Romeo & Juliet.

Carolina Valdez Miller's ARCs giveaway!

You can win these ARCs!

Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.

Elisa is the chosen one.

But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can’t see how she ever will.

Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.

And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies seething with dark magic are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior. And he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.

Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.

Most of the chosen do.

From the Amazon description for the UK version:

Princess Elisa is a disappointment to her people. Although she bears the Godstone in her navel, a sign that she has been chosen for an act of heroism, they see her as lazy and useless and fat.

On her sixteenth birthday, she is bartered off in royal marriage and shipped away to a kingdom in turmoil, where her much-older and extremely beautiful husband refuses to acknowledge her as his wife. Devastated, Elisa decides to take charge of her fate and learn what it means to bear the Godstone. As an invading army threatens to destroy her new home, and everyone at court maneuvers to take advantage of the young princess, Elisa becomes convinced that, not only is her own life in danger, the whole world needs saving. But how can a young girl who has never ridden horseback, never played the game of politics, and never attained the love of a man save the world? Elisa can't be sure, but she must try to uncover the Godstone's secret history before the enemy steals the destiny nestled in her core.

by Jeff Hirsch

The wars that followed The Collapse nearly destroyed civilization. Now, twenty years later, the world is faced with a choice—rebuild what was or make something new.

Stephen Quinn, a quiet and dutiful fifteen-year-old scavenger, travels Post-Collapse America with his Dad and stern ex-Marine Grandfather. They travel light. They keep to themselves. Nothing ever changes. But when his Grandfather passes suddenly and Stephen and his Dad decide to risk it all to save the lives of two strangers, Stephen's life is turned upside down. With his father terribly injured, Stephen is left alone to make his own choices for the first time.

Stephen’s choices lead him to Settler's Landing, a lost slice of the Pre-Collapse world where he encounters a seemingly benign world of barbecues, baseball games and days spent in a one-room schoolhouse. Distrustful of such tranquility, Stephen quickly falls in with Jenny Tan, the beautiful town outcast. As his relationship with Jenny grows it brings him into violent conflict with the leaders of Settler's Landing who are determined to remake the world they grew up in, no matter what the cost.

Die For Me by Amy Plum Review

Die For Me by Amy Plum

Summary from Goodreads:
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.

Publication Date: May 10, 2011
Published by: Harper Teen

My Favorite Scene:
My favorite scene is at the end so you'll just have to read it! :))

My Thoughts:
Here it goes. We all know that Kate is depressed due to her parents being dead. She had a hard time moving on because the events in the book took just a few months away after the accident that claimed her parents lives. You must be uninterested now because some of you may hate depressed heroines. But don't worry! It only happens  for a few chapters and you won't even know that she's depressed because she can still make jokes with her sister.
Kate first saw Vincent in her usual cafe. She already had a crush (CRUSH not IN LOVE people! So for those of you saying that Kate is stupid for falling in love at first sight is wrong!... or at least I think) on him. You can't really blame her anyway because almost all of the girls (Even the oldies!) in the cafe are falling in love with Vincent and his crew. I don't want to give anymore spoilers so I'll just get on with it!

I think the novel is believable and you would find yourself entranced with the description of Paris that you would feel like you were there in the scene yourself! The book's key selling point is the setting. Well, who wouldn't want to live in Paris?! It's the most romantic place in the world! It definitely adds a star to the book! I don't really have any problem with this book except for the letter that Kate wrote to Vincent when she chose to walk away in the 1st part of the book. It's kind of awkward because she believed right away that Vincent is some immortal just because she saw a painting that LOOKS LIKE HIM and his companion Ambrose (more like a brother). Although she is correct that it is him, it seems out of place that she believed it right away without even Vincent telling her a clue. But that's the only problem! After that everything will be perfectly normal and you'll find yourself wanting some more!

I think that's it! all in all I loved the novel and it could have been a stand alone book but we don't want that do we? :) Buy yourself this book and make yourself happy!

P.S. I those people comparing this novel to TWILIGHT. Why does everyone compare a novel to "The Twilight Saga"?! Can't a book have it's own Name!?!

Before I forget, I also have another issue with this book...... It PREVENTED ME FROM BEING PART OF AMY PLUM"S TWITTER CONTEST!! Why did I became obsessed with this book!? I should have log in to twitter right away if I had known! :((( ANYWAY..... Here's my rating:

That's right 4 whooping stars! Until next time! I think I'm gonna read Divergent by Veronica Roth next.. maybe The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks...

Stay Tuned!

The Hush, Hush Saga

Hey Guys! Told ya I'll be back! So I'm doing a post on  "The Hush, Hush Saga". I know you're eagerly awaiting Silence and my Giveaway! But those will have to wait.... for now! (Well at least my giveaway will be up soon!)
But for now, I'll give you information the the Hush, Hush Saga by Becca Fitzpatrick so  other people will be familiar with the series and hopefully, try/buy and read it! So here we go! Starting with the 1st book.
(Note this will be a little bit Spoilery. But just a little bit! ;) )

Book 1: Hush, Hush
Hush, Hush is the 1st book in the hush, hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick.
It is written through the perspective of the main character, Nora Grey (similar with book 2 and possibly book 3), who finds her life in danger when she becomes involved with a mysterious new student at her school named Patch, who is revealed to be a fallen angel with a dark connection to Nora herself.

Summary from Goodreads:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Publication Date:  October 13, 2009

Book 2: Crescendo
Crescendo is the sequel to Becca Fitzpatrick's best-selling novel Hush, Hush
Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up.. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Summary from Goodreads:
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.

Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperately searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

Publication Date: October 19, 2010

Book 3: Silence
Silence is the third and last book to Becca Fitzpatrick's best-selling series "The Hush, Hush Saga"
Official Tag-Line: "It's all been falling toward this.... SILENCE"

Summary from Goodreads:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

Publication Date: October 4, 2011

All The Books are Published by: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Praise for Becca Fitzpatrick:
"A thrilling debut." --Kirkus Reviews

"A gripping chiller... Fitzpatrick regularly tweaks the tension, resulting in a fast-paced, exhilarating read. Nora’s tempestuous relationship with prototypical bad boy Patch is genuinely, even unsettling seductive- fans of paranormal romance should be rapt." - Publishers Weekly

"Horror and romance fans who are weary of the werewolf (and vampire) next door will welcome this new take on the heart of darkness." --Booklist

"Hush, Hush has great atmosphere, and had me wondering where in the world -- or out of the world -- this story could go. If the guys had been this dangerous and delicious when I was in high school, I would never have wanted to graduate! I see more fallen angel stories coming from this talented writer." -- Sandra Brown, bestselling author of White Hot and Smoke Screen

One hour to rewrite the past . . .
For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.
So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

Review For ILLUSIONS by Aprilynne Pike

Summary from Goodreads:
Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.

But just as life is returning to normal, Laurel discovers that a hidden enemy lies in wait. Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.

                My Favorite Scene:
Quietly, almost too quietly to hear, Tamani spoke. "I would never do something just to hurt you."
"No?" Laurel asked, much louder than Tamani, her voice rising louder with every word as she finally asked the question that felt like it had torn deeper into her every day. "What about at the dance? You were dancing with Yuki and I looked at you. And you turned away and held her closer. Why did you do that? If you didn't want to hurt me, then why?"
He looked away, as though slapped, but he didn't look guilty. He looked pained. "I closed my eyes," he said, his voice so low and strangled she could hardly hear him.
                               "What?" she asked, not understanding.
Tamani held up a hand and Laurel realized he hadn't finished—he was having trouble speaking at all. "I closed my eyes," he repeated after a few shallow breaths, "and imagined she was you." He looked at her, his face open, his eyes honest, his voice a song of anguish.

Wow! I really adored that scene! I was kinda rooting for Team David from the beginning of the series. It only took one scene to make me change my mind. This scene made me root now for Team Tamani! This is really touching and a little bit emotional for Laurel and Tamani.

My Thoughts:
This books was a VERY FAST read! It is fast paced and you can read it all in just one day (or maybe 3.5 hours). In this book, we learn some very interesting happenings Between Crescent City and The world of Avalon (Even though Laurel only went to Avalon one time only in this book). I adored the whole book and it is a satisfying sequel in the Wings Series.
I love how Ms. Pike brought Tamani in the Human world for guarding Laurel. There is some very INTERESTING happenings between David and Tam because we get to see how would they react with each other now that they're on the same world. I won't give any spoilers because.. well, I hate spoiling things. Let's just say that the 2 boys was on Laurel's nerve in this book. There I'll leave it at that. We also get to see Tam's POV in this book. We get to know what's on his mind, and what plans he have for this and that. And let's not forget Chelsea! She's more funny in this book than the last one. Although in this book, she has more exposure and ALMOST always at Laurel's side. She made a choice that she will *Spoilers ahead! Skip the spoiler if you don't want to be spoiled.* break up with Ryan and continue waiting for David after Laurel broke up with him. She said this to Laurel because she doesn't want to lose her as her Best Friend. *End Of Spoilers* Chelsea's decision will really make you feel for her and you would think that Laurel is a monster for doing that to her Best Friend.
So.... I didn't really like Laurel in this book. Truth be told, I HATE HER in this book. She's really hurting other people by not making choices. If she chose David, She'll hurt Tamani and if you read the Spoilers, You'll know she'll hurt another person too. But if she chose Tamani, David will be hurt BUT (You'll know what I mean if you read the Spoilers).
But all in all, I really Love this book! I got so much answer in this book that I'm ok even though the next book will be out next year. I don't mind though, because it is the last book. Thank you for reading!

Before I Fall [Review]

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Details on Goodreads:What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?

Samantha Kingston has it all: the world's most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life.

Instead, it turns out to be her last.

Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.

Paperback, 470 pages
Published March 2nd 2010 by HarperCollins

I've never done a review before so I'll just get on with it. Before I fall starts with the Protagonist's Death (Sam Kingston). She tells us about her death and what she remembers before she died. She is given a chance to relive her day again and again until she gets it right.

Sam Kingston is not a nice girl to begin with and she is not hard to hate. She is a mean girl together w/ her friends Lindsay, Elody and Ally. They are the bullies in their school. They're super popular and gets everything they want. But even though these seem perfect, They each have their own flaws w/c they don't talk about because they respect each other. I don't want to give any spoilers here so I'll express my thoughts now. I think the book is well written and inspiring. It shows what happen in reality and how bullying affects a teenager. It shows how an action affects other people. It was very... unique in its own ways and you'll learn a lot of lessons here. It shows us that it's never too late to change. Sam showed that to us as the time progresses. Even though the day keeps repeating over and over again (which is very tiresome!) we also learn a lot of new things in each person. The characters are well developed and you'll almost feel what they feel sometimes.

All in all, It was a great read. If you have to choose just one book that you'll read this year, this is it!
